Week 9 rankings: Welcome back, CM

November, 7, 2011
Once again, the top two teams in the POWERADE state rankings came away with easy victories this weekend. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, No. 1 Everett and No. 2 Duxbury have clearly elevated themselves above the rest of the competition in the MIAA. No. 3 BC High also notched a big win on Saturday, opening Catholic Conference play by grinding out a 16-8 win over Xaverian.

No. 4 Chelmsford escaped Lowell with a 26-22 win, but the No. 5 team wasn't so lucky. Bridgewater-Raynham went to overtime with Barnstable but couldn't stop the Raiders' spread attack, falling 26-20. The Trojans drop out of the Top 10 this week, making room for old friend Catholic Memorial at No. 10. CM opened the season with huge expectations (and a No. 4 ranking), but a season-opening loss to Marshfield staggered them early. Now it looks like the Knights have rediscovered their stride, winning six in a row to jump back into the postseason conversation.
