Each week, we’ll take an in-depth look at our All-State preseason football team and let you know how a few of those athletes are faring as the season progresses. We'll highlight a blue-chipper (a first-team player), an OTP (other top player) and an under-the-radar pick (someone who didn't make the squad but is making a case to be on the team).

This week, a star defensive player makes a key play late, a powerful running back puts up a huge game and a kicker comes up big with the game on the line.

Blue Chip: Matt Godin, Detroit Catholic Central, DL

With the game on the line late, Godin's outstanding defensive play helped the No. 2 team in the POWERADE Weekly Rankings come away with the win. Godin's sack late in the contest stifled Brother Rice's chances and keyed the win for the Shamrocks. Defense has been the story all season for Detroit C.C., and the Michigan recruit has been at the center of it all.

OTP: Prescott Line, Oxford, RB

He's been here before, but he just keeps putting up incredible performances. This week, Line rushed for 391 yards and scored six rushing touchdowns to help Oxford earn a 49-26 victory over Southfield, helping his team to a 5-2 record. Line is also the reigning D-I wresting champ.

Under the Radar: Brenton Zuzo, Plymouth, K

A kicker? We know, we know. But you can't ignore what Zuzo did this past weekend. With his team trailing, Zuzo hit a perfect onside kick that was recovered by his teammates, then with two seconds left on the clock, the junior hit a 40-yarder that by some accounts would have cleared from more than 50 yards out. The field goal was the deciding factor in his team's 31-30 victory and it kept Plymouth unbeaten on the season.
