Each week, we'll take an in-depth look at our preseason All-State basketball team and let you know how a few of those athletes are faring as the season progresses. We'll feature a Prime-Time player (PTP), an Other Top Player (OTP) and an under the radar star who is making a bid to be one of the state's top players (UTR).

If you've got athletes you think we should mention in our All-State Stock Watch, hit me up on Twitter @CParishESPNHS.

PTP: Sherron Dorsey-Walker, Pershing, Senior

Thanks to its superstar, Pershing is off to a stellar start and is currently No. 3 in the POWERADE Michigan Weekly Rankings. Dorsey-Walker has put up consistent numbers and has established himself as one of the best players in the PSL. He scores when he needs to, and he's contributed on the boards as well.

OTP: Malik Albert, Detroit King, Senior

King is off to a 7-1 start this season thanks to a trio of scorers — King, Marquan Armstrong and Dennis Norfleet. Any of the three is capable of shouldering the scoring load on any given night, and King's been one of the best. He dropped 20 against Bay City Western in a 73-72 overtime win and has been in double figures in nearly every game this year.

UTR: Delandon Laye, Mumford, Senior

Mumford looks strong early thanks to an early 6-1 record, and Laye's impressive shooting has been a big reason why. In a game against Renaissance on Dec. 29, Laye scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, despite the team's OT loss — the team's only loss so far this season.

It's the first stock watch of the season, and some players and teams are off to very good starts. Let's get to it.

PTP: Matt Costello, Bay City Western, Senior

Costello doesn't need to do much more than he already has to prove his worth as a Mr. Basketball candidate, but his effort on Tuesday — 14 points, 21 rebounds and eight blocks — was more than enough to send a message to the rest of the state. His big-time effort helped Western beat Frankenmuth, 67-53.

OTP: Malik Albert, Detroit King, Senior

Albert's hot start has helped King establish itself as a force in the PSL. Last week he led all scorers with 26 points as King beat Eat Detroit, 80-66. This week he dropped 30 on Detroit Kettering in an 89-63 victory. King is 4-0 to start the season and Albert is one of the region's most feared scorers.

UTR: Bishop Robinson, Loy Norrix, Junior

He's only 6-foot-2, but that clearly hasn't stopped him from hitting the glass. Robinson proved he can bang down low with the state's best when he pulled down 18 rebounds — and added 29 points for good measure — as Kalmazoo Loy Norrix edged Jackson, 75-74. The win helped Loy Norrix move to 4-0. It wasn't his first big game of the season, either — he scored 36 against Harper Creek and dropped 32 on Coldwater.
