This week, a wide receiver shines despite a loss, a struggling defense looks to its leader for help and a running back finds the end zone virtually at will.
UP — Kasey Robinson, Breck, WR
Breck suffered a tough loss this week at the hands of Concordia Academy, 43-34, but the offense shone brightly. And nobody was better for Breck than Robinson. The senior wideout had 10 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns, keeping his team in the game as much as he could. An assist here goes to Breck junior QB Austin Lommen, who tossed for 343 yards and five scores. The Mustangs are still a team to be reckoned with behind these two excellent players.
DOWN — Tyler Hartmann, Andover, DL
It's been a tough start to the season for Andover, and Hartmann is likely feeling the pressure. The ESPNHS All-State first-teamer is having a solid season individually, but Andover has struggled as a group — the Huskies lost their first two games before rallying last week. A strong effort from the defense can right the ship, and the team will look to veterans like Hartmann to lead the way.
UP — Beau Bofferding, Marshall, RB
It's been three games and three straight 100+ games for Bofferding on the ground this season. The senior tailback has posted games of 108, 177 and 135 as Marshall has earned three straight victories. In his last game against Redwood Valley this past weekend, Bofferding found the end zone five times, bringing his tally to 11 scores on the season. He's also helped his team by catching passes out of the backfield; he's got seven receptions for 121 yards this year.
