There's a new king among high school wide receivers and his name is Dorial Green-Beckham. With an 81-yard catch-and-run score in the second quarter of Hillcrest's contest against Republic on Thursday, Green-Beckham cemented his place as the all-time national career receiving yards leader.
With the Hornets backed up at their own 19 on first down and just over a minute to go in the first half, Futrell found Green-Beckham over the middle. The senior burst toward the right sideline, cut back and history was written 81 yards later in the end zone.
Entering the contest, Green-Beckham sat just 61 yards behind Evangel Christian (Shreveport, La.) alum Abram Booty's old mark of 5,867 set in 1996.
