The gift for most New York teams over the holidays was plenty of star power, as nationally ranked teams from Pennsylvania and California went toe-to-toe with some of New York's best.

Lincoln held its own at the MaxPreps Holiday Classic Invitational before falling to Mater Dei (Calif.) in the title game by just seven points. The Railsplitters, ranked 27th in the POWERADE FAB 50, will get another test this week in Utah's top-ranked team, Lone Peak.

Mount Vernon went against national No. 18 Neumann-Goretti (Pa.) but came up short in a 65-61 contest in the DWI Holiday Classic. The Saints went on to defeat Christ the King as well, but in a much more decisive fashion — a score of 73-41. CTK played its next Pennsylvania opponent a lot closer, but the result was the same, a 65-53 loss to Chester.

As a result, Lincoln moves up to No. 1 in the state, followed by Mount Vernon, which drops to 28th nationally.

Here are this week's state's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

1. Lincoln (Brooklyn) 9-1 (2)
In a matchup of nationally ranked teams, Lincoln fell, 76-69, to Mater Dei (Calif.) in the MaxPreps Holiday Classic Invitational Division Final in California

2. Mount Vernon (St. Ursula) 4-1 (1)
The Knights lost a close one to national No. 18 Neumann-Goretti (Pa.) but bounced back with a win against Seton Catholic Central.

3. Jamesville-DeWitt 6-1 (5)
Following an idle week, the Red Rams return to action Wednesday against Fowler.
