Lincoln uses huge win to rise up final regular season NY football rankings
The jury is no longer out: Lincoln is the real deal -- again.
In a season that was slated by some as a rebuilding one, Lincoln has gone 9-0 to secure the top seed in the PSAL playoffs and avenged last year's loss to Fort Hamilton in the state championship with a 22-0 win this past weekend. Kareem Folkes continued his big year with 123 rushing yards and one score.
Fort Hamilton was without QB Marvin Centeno, who is out for the year with a shoulder injury, but the Railsplitters still deserve their due for the shutout win -- hence, their No. 5 spot in the rankings.
Tottenville played its first game without its star QB, Brandon Barnes, but Alvin Cornelius made sure to pick up the slack. The two-way starter totaled two touchdowns while intercepting two passes to lead the Pirates to a 44-13 win against Campus Magnet and earn the second seed in the PSAL playoffs.
With the start of the postseason, that'll do it for our weekly rankings until we release our final list following what should be an intriguing playoffs. In the meantime, stay tuned for postseason updates.
