As the above clip shows, Kahlil Lewin and Erasmus Hall gave Lincoln everything it had when the two met up Tuesday for the PSAL championship. But in a back-and-forth contest at Yankee Stadium, Lincoln struck last with a one-yard touchdown run by Jessel Jones in the third quarter to give the Railsplitters a 20-12 victory.
The outcome capped a perfect season for Lincoln, which many expected would be in rebuilding mode this season after falling in last year's PSAL title game and losing the likes of top defensive recruit Ishaq Williams to graduation.
Jones came up big for the Railsplitters, totaling 101 yards and one score to fill the void for standout RB Kareem Folkes, who rushed for 73 yards while struggling with an ankle injury. On the other side, Lewin played admirable in defeat. After scoring the game-winning TD in overtime last week, the backup tailback filled in for the injured Shaquell Jackson to rush for 135 yards. This bodes well for the Dutchmen's future in a year that saw them reach their first-ever title game.
