After games on Sunday, Jan. 22
For the most part, things stood pat in this week's rankings — and that's not such a bad thing. Of course, winning is great but more importantly, last week's victories set the stage for several big matchups.
Call it Super Tuesday, if you will. First, No. 2 High Point Christian will put its undefeated record on the line against No. 4 Greensboro Day, which has won 22 in a row. High Point has had its way against almost all of its opponents, but the Spiders' balanced attack will certainly be a test.
Then, West Charlotte will look to make it a clean sweep against a surging North Mecklenburg squad. The Lions won the first matchup by three, but their inconsistent play has been no secret. What's more, Shivaughn Wiggins has been on a tear, averaging 25.2 points per game to put the Vikings on the cusp of the top ten.
On the national front, Olympic keeps winning and keeps moving up the charts. The 18-0 Trojans are now 32nd in the latest POWERADE FAB 50 rankings.
Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):
1. Olympic (Charlotte) 18-0 (1)
Trojans traveled out of state to beat Wheeler (Ga.), 69-52. Next up: East Gaston on Tuesday.
2. High Point Christian 22-0 (2)
Cougars keep winning, which makes Tuesday's matchup against No. 4 Greensboro Day all the more intriguing.
3. Christ School (Arden) 21-2 (3)
Greenies easily downed Carolina Day and Dobyns-Bennett to run their win streak to 12 games. Next up: Asheville Christian on Tuesday.
