It's time for the All-State Stock Watch, as we look at All-State football players who saw their potential value rise or fall over the past week. A player could have performed well in a game, gotten a big-time scholarship offer, broken his leg or just had an off game.
UP — Monty Madaris, Moeller, WR
Moeller has skyrocketed up the state rankings due in large part to the play of this senior WR. Madaris was stellar in a 27-10 win over St. Xavier of Kentucky, pulling in seven passes for 207 yards and finding the end zone three times. Madaris recently was offered by Florida State and Michigan, adding to a long list of suitors.
DOWN — Benny McGowan, Centerville, OL
The Elks have gotten off to a unusual 1-3 start this year, and the offense has been the main culprit. Centerville has been held under 15 points twice this season and the Elks have failed to sustain drives against good defenses. Last week, St. Ignatius was able to hold the Elks to 119 total yards and the offense failed to produce a touchdown. McGowan and the O-line need a bounce-back performance against Springboro this week if Centerville is to rebound from this rough start.
Kyle Kalis + Tyler Orlosky, St. Edward, OL
St. Edward’s offensive line has lived up to its preseason hype. The top-ranked Eagles won their fourth game of the year behind a dominant effort from Kalis and Orlosky, as the offense churned out 428 total yards on offense with 289 coming on the ground. Junior tailback Dwayne Aaron (29 carries, 207 yards) and senior QB Ryan Fallon (139 yards passing) have been the main beneficiaries of the hulking line’s play.
