High-SchoolOregon: Baseball Weekly Rankings

Oregon City came out of nowhere to grab the Class 6A title and nab the top spot in our rankings. The team took down perennial powers Jesuit and Roseburg and won 11 of its final 12 contests to grab the crown. State runner-up Thurston and Class 5A champ Wilson round out the top three.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:
1. Roseburg (20-3) — last week No. 1
2. Lake Oswego (21-4) — last week No. 2
3. Thurston (22-4) — last week No. 4

Playoffs are in full swing this week and several teams have a legit shot at a title, beginning with No. 1 Roseburg. The team entered the postseason with plenty of momentum after it clinched the Southern Oregon crown. Oregon failed to produce a regionally ranked squad this week but the eventual 6A champ could earn a spot in the final ranking.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:
1. Roseburg (20-3) — last week No. 1
2. Lake Oswego (21-4) — last week No. 2
3. Thurston (22-4) — last week No. 4

Roseburg finished the regular season on a five-game win streak and heads into the postseason No. 1 in the state. A couple of teams underwent significant repositioning in this week's top 10, with former No. 3 Sherwood dropping to No. 8 and Thurston entering the top five for the first time this year. Westview is still clinging to its spot in the rankings and is a candidate to turn it on come playoff time, while a hot South Salem squad bumped Southridge from the list.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:
1. Roseburg (21-2) — last week No. 1
2. Lake Oswego (21-4) — last week No. 2
3. Jesuit (20-4) — last week No. 2

Southridge's 13-10 record may not look all that impressive but the Skyhawks have beaten several teams that were ranked at some point this year and also have a one-run loss to No. 2 Lake Oswego. Therefore, we gave them the No. 10 spot in this week's rankings. Roseburg remains at the top after an unbeaten week, while Lake Oswego is red-hot on the diamond and moves up to No. 2 and Sherwood dropped a contest to slip to No. 3. Summit moves up three spots to No. 5 and Thurston also rises to No. 7.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:
1. Roseburg (19-2) — last week No. 1
2. Lake Oswego (16-4) — last week No. 2
3. Sherwood (16-1) — last week No. 2

Westview's hold on No. 2 was short-lived as Beaverton took a pair of games from the Wildcats to knock them out of the top three. The loss reopened the door for Jesuit, which checks in at No. 3 behind Sherwood. Lake Oswego is a big mover this week, rising three spots to No. 4. Roseburg keeps its spot at the top and holds strong at No. 18 in the Regional rankings.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:
1. Roseburg (17-2) — last week No. 1
2. Sherwood (16-1) — last week No. 3
3. Jesuit (15-3) — last week No. 4

We knew coming into the season that Westview would be a beast of a squad with MLB prospect Carson Kelly back. After a bit of a slow start, the Wildcats proved us right in recent weeks. Westview made a huge statement by beating last week's No. 1 Jesuit twice last week. The wins shook up the top 10, with Roseburg emerging as the new lead dog and Westview vaulting Jesuit and Sherwood into No. 2. Jesuit dropped to No. 4 behind one-loss Sherwood and Thurston moving up to No. 5. New to the rankings is No. 9 Summit, which is hot after seven consecutive wins.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:
1. Roseburg (14-1) — last week No. 2
2. Westview (12-3) — last week No. 5
3. Sherwood (13-1) — last week No. 3

This week offers a pair of matchups that could affect next week's rankings significantly. In Class 6A, No. 1 Jesuit begins a three-game set with fifth-ranked Westview, while third-ranked Sherwood (No. 3) and newcomer Sandy (No. 9) square off in 5A action. Not much movement to report this week as Jesuit held on to No. 1 after sweeping Sunset. Sherwood moved up a spot after Lake Oswego struggled and Westview is back in the top five on the heels of a six-game unbeaten streak.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:
1. Jesuit (11-1) — last week No. 1
2. Roseburg (12-1) — last week No. 2
3. Sherwood (11-0) — last week No. 4

Central Catholic was the lone team to fall out of our top 10 this week as the Rams dropped to 7-4 on the season. There was little movement to the rest of our top 10 as the top five teams remain intact and we welcomed undefeated Thurston to the mix. Jesuit is ranked regionally (No. 19) and has a shot at representing Oregon in the POWERADE FAB 50 if it continues to dominate its competition. The Crusaders have held five opponents to two runs or fewer during their strong start. Also look for Roseburg and Lake Oswego as candidates to supplant Jesuit should it falter in the coming weeks. In 5A, it appears to be a two-team race between Sherwood and Pendleton. Sherwood is still undefeated while Pendleton is looking for some stability after going 3-2 in recent weeks.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:
1. Jesuit (8-1) — last week No. 1
2. Roseburg (8-1) — last week No. 2
3. Lake Oswego (9-2) — last week No. 3

Week two is in the books and a pair of new squads have emerged in the top 10. Crater is undefeated and posted a win over preseason No. 1 Westview to land at No. 5 in the rankings. North Medford is also unbeaten and can make a statement by knocking off No. 2 Roseburg later this week. Jesuit moves into the top spot and Roseburg jumps seven spots to second place atop the rankings. Lake Oswego holds strong at No. 3, while Westview tumbles to No. 7.

Here's a look at the top three teams:
1. Jesuit (6-1) — last week No. 2
2. Roseburg (7-1) — last week No. 9
3. Lake Oswego (7-2) — last week No. 3

The baseball season is in full swing and already we've had some major reshuffling to the top 10. Our top two of Westview and Jesuit remain intact despite a loss apiece, but Lake Oswego vaults two spots to No. 3 on the strength of the Lakers' 4-1 start. Sherwood comes in at No. 4 and Clackamas closes out the top five at 4-1. Sunset and Class 4A champ Astoria make their debut at Nos. 8 and 10, respectively. It's still very early so expect a lot more movement over the next few weeks.

Here's a look at the top three teams:
1. Westview (3-1) — last week No. 1
2. Jesuit (4-1) — last week No. 2
3. Lake Oswego (4-1) — last week No. 5
