Aloha, Jesuit continue slide in Oregon football rankings

By David Auguste

Oh, how the mighty have fallen? Aloha and Jesuit began the year as the top two teams in the state but after consecutive losses by each squad, they are in jeopardy of falling out of the local rankings. Sheldon and Lake Oswego have taken advantage and now maintain the top two spots. Sheldon handled Grants Pass, 52-6, to move to 4-0, while Lake Oswego overcame an early deficit to finish off Jesuit, 49-21, live on ESPNU. Siuslaw makes its top 10 debut after beating previous No. 10 Newport in a battle of 4A contenders.

Here's how the top three teams fared last week:

1. Sheldon — defeated Grants pass, 52-6 (last week No. 1)
2. Lake Oswego — defeated Jesuit, 49-21 (last week No. 2)
3. Sherwood — defeated St. Helen's 61-21 (last week No. 5)
