Each week, we’ll take an in-depth look at our All-State preseason football team and let you know how a few of those athletes are faring as the season progresses.

This week, we profile a QB who's made his mark out of state and two running backs who were projected to be among the state's elite.

STOCK WATCH

UP — Skyler Mornhinweg, St. Joseph's Prep, QB

Entering its third week into the season, St. Joseph's Prep has yet to play a team from Pennsylvania. Instead, the Hawks have played a team from Ontario and a team from Washington, D.C., winning both contests handily and averaging well over 40 points per contest. Now that the slate of games shifts back home, Morhinweg's squad wants to continue its outstanding offensive output. As the leader of the squad, the Penn State-bound QB has spread the ball around and shown his ability to make big plays.

DOWN — Greg Garmon, McDowell, RB

Sure, it was a game that was well in hand from start to finish. But Garmon is widely known for being one of the state's most thrilling running backs, so his output of just 65 yards and one touchdown certainly wasn't his most exciting finish of the season. This is a running back who totaled more than 1,100 yards last year. Expect Garmon to put up some much bigger numbers this year as the team goes to him more often.

UP — Julian Durden, Montour, RB

As Durden plays, colleges take notice, and with good reason. He's among the WPIAL's leading rushers so far this season. In the season-opening win against Chartiers Valley, Durden rushed for 239 yards and three scores in his team's 49-14 victory. Last week, Durden squared off against Hopewell, which boasts one of the nation's top RBs in Rushel Shell. Durden was every bit Shell's equal with his 172 rushing yards and one TD, but it wasn't enough as Hopewell escaped with a 22-19 win. Still, Durden has quickly proven he's one of the state's top tailbacks.
