This week, we're going with a new and improved format. We'll highlight a blue-chipper (a first-team player), an OTP (other top player) and an under-the-radar pick (someone who didn't make the squad but is making a case to be on the team).
Blue Chip: Drew Harris, Downingtown East, RB
Harris suffered a leg injury in West's game against Coatesville and will likely not play this weekend. But the bigger news is that Harris has made a college decision. The senior ESPNHS All-State first-teamer will play at Virginia Tech next season. It was also reported that Harris' teammate, senior offensive lineman Jack Willenbrock, will join Harris at Virginia Tech. Harris has more than 600 yards and has scored nine touchdowns so far this year.
OTP: Thomas Bodolus, Daniel Boone, QB
There have been some pretty impressive numbers thrown around over the course of this season. But Bodolus has jaw-dropping stats through four games this season. He's thrown for 570 yards, run for 571 yards and scored 19 touchdowns. He's completed passes at a 63 percent clip and he's thrown only one interception this season. Behind his outstanding play, the Blazers are 4-0.
Under the Radar: Luke Hagy, Mt. Lebanon, RB
In this past weekend's game against Hopewell, Hagy ran for 266 yards to lead all players. But he was a mere afterthought in the game story. The reason? The running back on the other side, Rushel Shell, had just broken the WPIAL career rushing record with his 205-yard effort. Hagy has been one of the top running backs in Class AAAA this year and is one of the state's best three-sport athletes.
