THE BASICS

School: Archbishop Alter (Kettering, Ohio)
Grade: Senior
Position: Setter/outside hitter
Height: 6-foot-2

THE PILLARS

Athletic achievement: Courtney recorded 451 kills, 426 assists, 316 digs, 52 blocks and 36 service aces this past season while posting a kill percentage of .603 and leading the Knights (20-10) to the Division II state final. A three-time First Team All-State selection, she is a 2011-12 American Volleyball Coaches Association Under Armour First Team All-American.

Academic excellence: Courtney has maintained a 3.45 GPA in the classroom.

Exemplary character: A devoted parishioner in her church community, where she is a Eucharistic minister, Courtney is a member of her school’s Spanish Club and has volunteered locally as a Catholic Youth Organization volleyball coach.

THE PRAISE

“Megan Courtney is a fabulous player,” said Tracey Korneau, head coach of rival Lakota West (West Chester Township, Ohio). “She is heads and shoulders above any players I have seen this year.”

THE FUTURE

Courtney has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball on scholarship at Penn State University beginning in the fall of 2012.
