THE BASICS

THE PILLARS

Athletic achievement: Moss has led the Rebels to a 30-3 record and a berth in the first round of the Sweet Sixteen State Tournament against Dunbar (Lexington, Ky.), played Wednesday. She averaged 22.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 4.2 steals and 1.6 blocks per game heading into the state tournament. A two-time Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year and a two-time Louisville Courier Journal First Team All-State selection, Moss is a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American. She had scored 2,935 points in her prep basketball career entering the 2012 postseason.

Academic excellence: Moss has maintained a B average in the classroom.

Exemplary character: The daughter of former NFL All-Pro Randy Moss, she has volunteered locally as part of a fundraising campaign to benefit cancer research, as a youth basketball coach and as a member of the Boone County High PEP Club.

THE PRAISE

“Sydney Moss gets her teammates involved and knows when it is her time to take over,” said Jeff Stowers, head coach at Simon Kenton (Independence, Ky.). “She does her work quietly and then the stat sheet is loud.”

THE FUTURE: Moss has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on an athletic scholarship at the University of Florida this fall.
