THE WINNER: Travis Garcia-Perreira

THE BASICS

School: Mid-Pacific Institute (Honolulu, Hawaii)
Grade: Senior
Position: LHP/OF/1B
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 180 pounds

THE PILLARS

Athletic achievement: Garcia-Perreira posted a 4-2 record on the mound along with a 1.74 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched this past season, leading the Owls (15-3) to the Division I state quarterfinals. A 2012 First Team All-League selection, he also batted .490 with 17 RBI and a .647 slugging percentage.

Academic excellence: Garcia-Perreira has maintained a 3.02 GPA in the classroom.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics and as a youth baseball coach and elementary school motivational speaker.

THE PRAISE

“Travis Garcia-Perreira was such a consistent force for us all season long,” said Mid-Pacific Institute head coach Dunn Muramaru. “He played at such a high level in all phases of the game and was the best hitter in our league.”

THE FUTURE: Garcia-Perreira will attend Arizona Western College this fall where he will play baseball.
