THE WINNER: Madi Schreyer

THE BASICS

School: Woodinville (Wash.)
Grade: Junior
Position: Pitcher
Height: 5-foot-11

THE PILLARS

Athletic achievement: Schreyer led the Falcons (26-0) to the Class 4A state championship this past season. She posted a 21-0 record with a 0.28 ERA and 189 strikeouts in 123 innings pitched. A member of the Canadian Junior National Team, Schreyer allowed 28 hits and walked 33 batters, holding opponents to a .088 batting average. In the state final, she gave up three hits and struck out eight in a 6-0 win over defending champion Walla Walla (Wash.).

Academic excellence: Schreyer has maintained a 3.91 GPA in the classroom.

Exemplary character: She has volunteered locally as an elementary school teaching assistant, a peer mentor/tutor and as a youth softball coach.
