THE WINNER: Maryssa Becker

THE BASICS

School: North Medford (Medford, Ore.)
Grade: Junior
Position: Pitcher
Height: 6-foot

THE PILLARS

Athletic achievement: Becker led the Black Tornado (29-1) to the Class 6A state championship this past season. She posted a 26-0 record with a 0.43 ERA and 313 strikeouts in 178 innings pitched, firing three no-hitters. A two-time Southern Oregon Hybrid League Pitcher of the Year, Becker batted .475 with seven home runs, 15 doubles, 47 RBI and a .832 slugging percentage.

Academic excellence: Becker has maintained a 3.94 GPA in the classroom.

Exemplary character: A member of the National Junior Honor Society, she has volunteered locally as an elementary school mentor and as a youth softball instructor.
