Three-time Gatorade Kansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year Perry Ellis announced his decision to attend the University of Kansas at a press conference on Wednesday. ESPNHS senior editor Ronnie Flores has the full story on the 6-foot-9 Wichita Heights High (Kan.) senior forward's decision.

Ellis became the first freshman to win a Gatorade State Boys Basketball Player of the Year honor and therefore could become the first prep player in history to capture four consecutive Gatorade POY honors should he repeat this winter. Such a feat would almost assuredly launch ESPNU's No. 37-ranked national recruit into serious consideration for Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Ellis led the Falcons to a 25-0 record and a third consecutive Class 6A state championship as a junior. He averaged 22.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting a stunning 74.9 percent from the field. A member of the 2010 USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team, Ellis produced 22.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per contest as a sophomore. He recorded 19.2 points and 11.7 rebounds per game as a freshman.
