For most of the season, it appeared that the Class 5A and 4A titles would go through Corpus Christi, what with Carroll and Calallen dominating the respective scenes. But then Calallen went down in the regional semifinals, and then Carroll fell to A&M Consolidated in the state semifinals.

In the end, Cypress Ranch and Rockwall-Heath emerged as the state champions. For Cy Ranch, sophomore Corbin Martin earned MVP honors by hitting a home run, sac fly and two RBIs, pushing the Mustangs past A&M Consolidated and up to No. 21 in the POWERADE FAB 50. Meanwhile, Rockwall-Heath rode another impressive performance from Jovan Hernandez, who threw a four-hitter on the mound and belted a home run at the plate to help beat Cleburne 10-1 in the 4A championship and move his team to a No. 32 national ranking.

Here are the final rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

1. Cypress Ranch (Houston) 32-8 (4)
Corbin Martin hit a home run, a sac fly and two RBIs to lead Mustangs past AaM Consolidated 4-1 in the Class 5A championship.

The No. 1 spot in the POWEADE FAB 50 has become not so coveted of late. For the fourth time in four weeks, the nation's top team fell, with Calallen serving as the victim this time. The Wildcats were stunned in the Class 4A regional semifinals by Boerne Champion, which had the luxury of choosing a one-game playoff instead of a three-game series after winning a coin flip.

As a result, CC Carroll moves back into the top spot after beating Sharyland to set up a matchup with Laredo in the Class 5A regional final. Seven Texas teams now hold a spot in the POWERADE FAB 50, beginning with CC Carroll at No. 7 and Rockwall-Heath at No. 50.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

The Tigers did so by moving one step closer to a Class 4A title, sweeping Ray to set up a matchup with Boerne Champion in the regional semifinals.

In Class 5A, a big showdown looms as No. 3 CC Carroll takes on No. 4 Sharyland for the right to move on to the regional final.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

This time, Calallen of Class 4A prevailed against CC Carroll of Class 5A by the count of 7-1, thanks to a strong pitching performance from Armando Arevalo, who took a no-hitter into the seventh and is 7-0 on the season. The win could have future rankings implications should the two end up winning state titles.

Nationally, the outcome moved Calallen back into the top 10 at No. 7 in the POWERADE FAB 50, which includes six teams from the Lone Star State.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):
