Lake Travis, Lovejoy compete in Pearland Volleyball Classic

Two of the nation's top five volleyball teams hail from Texas and both are in action this weekend at the Pearland Volleyball Classic.

Considering three-time defending Class 3A champ Lucas Lovejoy is ranked fifth in the POWERADE FAB 50, but only garnered the No. 9 seed at this tournament, it's safe to say the competition will be high at the 84-team event, which began Thursday.

Also in attendance is Lake Travis, the reigning Class 4A champion and second-ranked team in the POWERADE FAB 50. The Lady Cavaliers have gotten off to a quick start, winning all three of their matches Thursday to push their record to 21-0 this season.

Should these two teams meet over the weekend, Lake Travis will be looking for revenge. The Lady Cavs last two losses came against Lovejoy on Oct. 30 and Aug. 28.
