We are trying something new at ESPN Dyestat in order to recognize all of the high school athletes across the country who like to throw their weight(s) around.

Throwers Corner is going to be the place on our homepage in which all of our throws-related content can be found, from Gourley's List to news and features and contributions from experts.

But it's also where we are going to identify one throw -- and thrower -- every week.

The first Throw of the Week belongs to Torie Owers of Athens Academy in Georgia. She traveled to the Rock and Roll Throw Off just outside Buffalo, N.Y. and delivered a new indoor personal best in the shot put with 50 feet, 6 inches . That throw won the competition by 12 feet and moved her to No. 12 all-time indoors.

Owers, who represented the U.S. at the World Youth Games and placed fifth at Lille, France. She is a two-time Georgia state champion in the shot put and also excels in the discus (outdoors) and the weight throw (indoors). In New York, she placed second in the weight throw.
