It took 80 days for Shelbi Vaughan of Legacy (Mansfield, Texas) to exceed her national record in the discus, which is probably a testament to how big her 191-6 throw was back on March 31.
Vaughan threw in the 180s four times since her record-breaker. And on June 9 at the Golden West Invitational, she tacked on 29 more inches to the national record, pushing the mark out to 193-11.
With 193-11, Vaughan would have won the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa last weekend.
Vaughan ranks 10th in the nation, overall, heading into next week's Olympic Trials in Eugene.
