DeMatha upends Gonzaga to move to No. 3
By David Auguste
The lone movement in this week's rankings involved DeMatha leapfrogging Gonzaga for the No. 3 spot. The Stags dismantled Gonzaga on national television Friday night to avenge a loss to their WCAC rivals three weeks ago. No. 1 Paul VI held off Gonzaga two days later behind a huge game by Coleman Johnson to retain the top spot. The Panthers have now won 11 straight and look to wrap up the WCAC regular season crown this week against St. John's and DeMatha. Riverdale Baptist has dominated opponents the last two months but will have their toughest test to date when they face Coolidge on Feb. 18. The contest could have a huge impact on next week's top 10.
Here's a look at the top three teams:
1. Paul VI (23-2) — last week No. 1
2. Montrose Christian (16-2) — last week No. 2
3. DeMatha (24-3) — last week No. 4
