Panthers claw their way to the top of Washington basketball rankings

Seattle Prep was expected to have a good team with the return of Metro League MVP Mitch Brewe. With junior D.J. Fenner back in the Seattle area and suiting up for the Panthers, Prep has a great team that could challenge for the 3A crown in March. The squad opens the winter at No. 46 in the POWERADE FAB 50 and tops in the Washington state rankings. Sekou Wiggs and O'Dea could threaten Prep's supremacy, while Rainier Beach added the state's top recruit in senior Anrio Adams. Defending 3A champ Lakes and Franklin round out the top five.

Here’s how the top three looks like heading into the 2011-12 season:

1. Seattle Prep

2. O'Dea

3. Rainier Beach
