RTC: On the bright side, defense

Reading the coverage of the Texans...

More people weigh in on Matt Schaub's situation. Don Banks from Sports Illustrated opines that Schaub's time as the Texans' quarterback might be running out.

It's not clear exactly when this happened, but the little-used Twitter account that belonged to Matt Schaub is gone now, writes the Houston Chronicle. I perused some of the mentions feeding into it, but I did so Monday afternoon, long after the first wave of hate must have receded. There were several tweets in support of Schaub. There were also some that questioned his character, accused him of moping, said he was not a leader and one that said "J.J. didn't play like this JUST for you to throw a pick six." I would find it odd if Schaub, who doesn't typically use Twitter much, hopped on this week after he threw a game-changing pick six. A lot of players simply avoid social media when they know it will be full of attacks, which I think is a more normal response.

The Texans defense isn't perfect, but it's ranked first in the NFL in yards allowed, writes John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. McClain notes three areas where the Texans must improve: red zone defense, turnovers and those long touchdown drives, usually one per game.

Tight ends Owen Daniels and Garrett Graham appeared on Tuesday's Verizon Players radio show and briefly talked about the players-only meeting they had on Monday, writes Deepi Sidhu from HoustonTexans.com.
