RTC: Wade Phillips has a world record

Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans ...

Texans interim head coach Wade Phillips joked that he must have the world record for stints as a head coach or interim head coach. He quipped to us last week, "I haven't been fired everywhere." Dale Robertson of the Houston Chronicle, who has known Phillips for a long time, writes about Phillips' legacy and includes some nice quotes from Phillips' late father, Bum.

Last season's rookie diary on HoustonTexans.com was with receiver DeVier Posey. This season's is with tight end Ryan Griffin, who became the Texans' second tight end when they lost starter Owen Daniels. In this entry, Griffin recalls what halftime was like last week. He said Texans owner Bob McNair came into the locker room to tell the team that defensive coordinator Wade Phillips would take over for Kubiak.

Here are five matchups to watch when the Texans face the Arizona Cardinals, from Dave Zangaro of CSNHouston.com. He starts with Cardinals receivers Larry Johnson against the Texans' cornerbacks.

The Chronicle's John McClain cites rookie receiver DeAndre Hopkins as a player to watch given the attention that will be paid Andre Johnson. He also selects Texans defensive end Antonio Smith, Cardinals right tackle Eric Winston and Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson as players to watch.
