Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...
We'll move on from being all-Manziel all the time after this post, but today's coverage was dominated by Johnny Manziel's pro day at Texas A&M. I went and every local outlet sent their Texans people. The Texans sent general manager Rick Smith, head coach Bill O'Brien, quarterbacks coach George Godsey and chief operating officer Cal McNair.
Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said the pro day had a "little bit of Hollywood" to it, writes Lindsay Jones of USA Today.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle talked to several people who were very impressed with how Manziel handled the day.
The Chronicle's Randy Harvey says Manziel emerged as the leader of the quarterbacks after his workout. He includes this astute line: "Players can't win pro days. They can only lose them. (See Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.)"
Manziel showed poise and precision, writes Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Sam Khan Jr. of ESPN.com delves into Manziel's decision to wear shoulder pads and a helmet during his pro day, something quarterbacks don't typically do.
Manziel's pro day included a former president, lots of swag, a Drake soundtrack and even a little football, writes Kristie Rieken of the Associated Press.
