A little late with this one today as I prepared for our NFL Nation mock draft, which will be live on Tuesday afternoon. It's a fun process, that would be a lot more stressful if my job depended on this prediction.
In the mean time, the latest Texans-related rumor comes from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He says someone close to Texans general manager Rick Smith says the Texans aren't totally sold on Jadeveon Clowney with the first pick, if they stay at No. 1.
Smith said twice last week that he knows who he wants with the top pick, but is still listening to trade offers.
Clowney (and I've said this before) might be the Texans' best chance to trade the pick. They might not be sold, but I bet someone is. The question is this: Is anyone sold enough to want to jump to the top spot? Could be costly.
Things to ponder with the draft four days away:
4. The number of quarterbacks who will attend the draft.
The really interesting one of that bunch will be Bridgewater, a quarterback who seemed to be at the top of the class during the season, but steadily fell during the pre-draft process.
One of these players could be a Texan, though I'd be surprised if any of them were with the first overall pick in the draft. (Wouldn't be the first or last time I was surprised).
