RTC: On Arian Foster and Earl Campbell
By Tania Ganguli
Reading the coverage of the Texans...
Missed this story earlier this week. Dale Roberton of the Houston Chronicle visited with former Oilers great Earl Campbell for a story about Campbell and Arian Foster. It's a good read. Campbell said he didn't have celebrations because "I can't dance a lick." He paid closer attention to Foster in part because of Foster's muted namaste touchdown celebration. More recently, Robertson took a look at Whitney Mercilus as the unsung hero of Monday night.
An update on the day's events from the Chronicle's John McClain, starting with the daily Ed Reed news and Wade Phillips' contribution to the very important Vanilla Ice discussion.
Brian Cushing made a big impact right away for the Texans, writes Kristie Rieken of the Associated Press. Cushing said his key interception against San Diego made everything he went through since his injury worth it.
Texans owner Bob McNair is approaching $70,000 worth in gifts of free tickets, food and beverages to lawmakers since 2006, writes David Rauf of the Chronicle. Tickets to sporting events are among some of the most popular gifts to lawmakers from lobbyists.
Even though Reed didn't play Monday night, the game was taxing for him, writes CSNHouston.com's Dave Zangaro. Reed said he needed oxygen during the game as he coached from the sideline.
