Overton joins Mathis, coaches at Pro Bowl

INDIANAPOLIS – It wasn’t that long ago that Indianapolis Colts long snapper Matt Overton was collecting unemployment checks as his NFL aspirations were slipping away each day.

That was 2012.

Now Overton is headed to Hawaii to take part in the Pro Bowl after staying committed and not throwing in the towel on his dream.

Overton was added to the team Wednesday. He'll join the coaching staff, linebacker Robert Mathis and possibly quarterback Andrew Luck in Honolulu for the game on Jan. 25.

Overton spent time playing in the Arena Football League 2 and the UFL before finally cracking the Colts roster in 2012.

“That path that I took to get here is pretty incredible,” Overton told Colts.com. “A lot of faith and patience. Just a little over two years ago, I was kind of just bouncing around, cut from an UFL team and didn’t really think there was a future for me in the NFL. To get the Pro Bowl nod, is just a huge honor.”
