Here's Sunday's Colts' Reading the Coverage:
- Mike Chappell of the Indy Star writes about tension getting a little high in practice when linebacker Jerrell Freeman and running back Dan Herron had to be separated during a running back-linebacker drill. Coach Chuck Pagano was looking forward to Saturday’s practice because it was the first time they were in pads. "Are you kidding me?" he said. "We've been in shorts since we got back together April 21. We've been playing flag football. Nothing against flag football. I love flag football. I have daughters that play flag football. We don't get to play flag football on Sundays unfortunately. This is a great day."
- Conrad Brunner of 1070thefan.com has a story on how second-year linebacker Bjoern Werner has positioned himself perfectly to start while Robert Mathis is serving his league-mandated four-game suspension.
- Stephen Holder of the Indy Star doesn’t believe the Colts will move quickly to replace injured running Vick Ballard on the roster after his season-ending torn Achilles.
- Kevin Bowen of Colts.com writes that rookie linebacker Jonathan Newsome had an impressive practice Saturday during the team’s first day in pads. The Colts are on a mission to find Mathis some help in the pass-rush department.
