Here's Tuesday's Colts Reading the Coverage:
- Indy Star columnist Bob Kravitz thinks Colts owner Jim Irsay should only get a 10-minute suspension for getting arrested in March after the NFL already suspended Baltimore running back Ray Rice for two games for hitting his fiancÚ.
- Conrad Brunner of 1070thefan.com has a quick take on running back Chris Rainey getting released for violating an unspecified team rule.
- The Colts were depleted by injuries and poor play along the offensive line in 2013. Mike Chappell of the Indy Star writes that versatility amongst the group should help if those problems come up again this season. "Right now we know we have two pillars on the perimeter," said offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. "We're just trying to find that right chemistry, continuity, right combination of guys inside."
- Craig Kelley of Colts.com writes about Bjoern Werner possibly being the best German-born linebacker in the NFL after he’s had a solid first week of practice. “He might be the best German defensive end in the NFL (smiles),” said Luck. “He’s savvy. He has a great athletic sense. You see him dropping back into coverage and covers a lot of ground. He’s a big body. He has great ball instincts.”
