INDIANAPOLIS -- You would never know that Adam Vinatieri celebrated his 41st birthday on Saturday by the way he’s still able to step back and nail field goals.

The Indianapolis Colts' ageless kicker had something else to celebrate Sunday when he became the seventh player in NFL history to score at least 2,000 points in his career. Vinatieri totaled 12 points -- three field goals and three PAT’s -- in the Colts’ victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars to give him 2,006 for his career, moving him to fifth in league history.

The Colts honored Vinatieri by putting his numbers on the video scoreboard late in the fourth quarter.

Vinatieri is 35-of-40 on field goals and a perfect 34-of-34 on PAT’s this season.

"Yeah, at the end of the year you always sit back and you evaluate, and unless you have a perfect season with no misses there is always room for improvement,” he said. “I think it was a good year. I felt pretty happy that I stayed healthy. The team did real well. Eleven wins is hard to come by. Making the playoffs is hard to come by, so if you can help contribute to your team's success it's always a successful time."
