RTC: Colts will have options at WR
By Mike Wells
Here's Monday's Reading The Coverage:
--The Indy Star’s Mike Chappell caught up with Steve Emtman, the former Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman and No. 1 overall pick from the 1992 draft, to talk about being a dominant defensive force and the pressure behind it.
South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is this year’s dominating defensive player in the draft. Clowney has a chance to go No. 1 overall in the May draft. He had 13 sacks and 23.5 tackles for a loss as a sophomore.
"It's always been my nature that whatever the situation, you've got to go out there and compete,'' Emtman told The Star. "That's the pressure I always felt. I didn't worry that much about what other people expected. I tried to be the best at whatever I did. That's part of being an athlete.''
--Stephen Holder, also of the Indy Star, writes that there’s plenty of depth at receiver in this year’s draft and that the Colts should be able to select one if they go in that direction in the second round. Holder mentions Penn State’s Allen Robinson, Jordan Matthews of Vanderbilt, Brandin Cooks of Oregon State and Davante Adams of Fresno State as possibilities.
The Colts have depth concerns at receiver as veteran Reggie Wayne is working his way back from a torn ACL at the age of 35.
