RTC: Not much loafing

November, 27, 2013
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --When Jaguars defensive line coach Todd Wash watches film of the previous game, he's charting what his players did.

He records, sacks, pressures, snaps, missed tackles and other stats. But the one that excited him the most about the way his unit performed in last Sunday's 13-6 victory over Houston wasn't any of those, writes the Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran.

It was the fact that he could find his players loafing only 11 times.

Wash said the defensive line's fundamentals weren't very good in the first eight games, so they worked on that over the bye week. The change has been noticeable. In the first eight games the defensive line had five sacks and 12 tackles for loss. It has posted two sacks and nine tackles for loss in the three games since the bye.

Here are some additional pieces of Jaguars content front around the web in our daily Reading the Coverage feature:

The Jaguars signed former Bolles School standout running back Shaun Chapas to the practice squad, writes the T-U's Hays Carlyon.

Carlyon also handicaps the race for the No. 1 overall selection in May's NFL draft. He doesn't have the Jaguars "winning" that race.
