JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jaguars have announced the hiring Scott Trulock as head athletic trainer.

Trulock, who has spent the past seven seasons as the head athletic trainer for football at the University of North Carolina, is replacing Mike Ryan, who announced his resignation last month. Ryan has been with the Jaguars since their inception in 1995 and is leaving to spend more time with his family and pursue other interests.

Trulock spent 11 seasons in the NFL with Denver, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and San Diego from 1996-2006 before heading to UNC.

"I am very excited for this opportunity with the Jaguars," Trulock said. "I had the opportunity to meet extensively with Dave Caldwell and Gus Bradley and the energy and passion they have for the organization was contagious. I’m looking forward to getting down to Jacksonville and continuing the first-class care they have shown for their players."
