JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A daily Jaguars-related look at what's happening at the NFL combine in Indianapolis:
Thursday, Feb. 20
What: Place-kickers, special teams, offensive linemen and tight ends measurements, medical exams, media, and interviews. Quarterbacks, receivers, running backs medical pre-exam, orientation and interviews.
TV: 2 p.m., NFL Network.
The skinny: Jaguars general manager David Caldwell's news conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. It's the first time he will speak to the media since the final fan forum on Feb. 6. I'm not in Indianapolis but will provide a recap of his comments.
Weight-room workouts don't begin until Friday and on-field workouts don't begin until Saturday, so Thursday is still a relatively light day in that regard. But this will be the first day that Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley can meet with the quarterbacks and the duo is expected to meet with Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles and others over the next few days. Film evaluation of those players has already begun, so the Jaguars already have somewhat of a feel for each player. But what happens in the interview can change the team's perception about a player. Manziel, for example, needs to really be impressive when meeting with GMs and coaches because he comes across as brash, cocky, arrogant and immature based on his off-field antics over the past year.
