RTC: Final chance for QBs Kafka, Scott

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Somebody has to be No. 3.

Quarterbacks Mike Kafka and Matt Scott continue their battle Thursday night to earn the Jaguars' third quarterback spot on the roster behind Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. The team is expected to keep three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, so the final preseason game against Atlanta is the pair's final chance to make an impression, writes Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union.

Carlyon also writes that Ricky Stanzi, who was claimed off waivers on Tuesday, is not expected to play against the Falcons.

Kafka and Scott have battled throughout the preseason but neither has been able to gain any separation. With Gabbert still dealing with a hairline fracture of his right thumb, Henne is only going to play about 10-15 snaps tonight so Kafka and Scott will get the bulk of the work.

Here are some other pieces of content from around the web in the Jaguars' version of Reading the Coverage:

• ESPN Insider's gambling guru Chad Millman covers everything you need to knowInsider before the NFL season begins. Among the things you'll find in his column are three teams wiseguys love and three they hate and which apps he'll be using.

I predicted the Jaguars' record on Wednesday. CBSsports.com NFL insider Pat Kirwin has a different perspective.

• NFL.com's Steve Wyche says the Jaguars are a team that could be better than people think.

• Where does the Jaguars' offensive backfield rank among NFL teams? Maybe higher than you think, according to CNNSI.com's Chris Burke.
