The new season for the Kansas City Chiefs always seems imminent once the schedule is announced. While the Chiefs still have to wait for their regular-season slate, their preseason schedule is coming into focus.
The Chiefs will play against the Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings in the preseason at Arrowhead Stadium and against the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers on the road. Specific dates have been set only for the road games. The Chiefs and Panthers will play in Charlotte on Sunday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. CT in a game nationally televised by Fox. The Chiefs and Packers conclude the preseason on Aug. 28 at Lambeau Field. No time has been set.
The Chiefs and Bengals will open their preseasons in Kansas City between Aug. 7-10. The Chiefs and Vikings meet at Arrowhead the third week of the preseason, Aug. 21-24.
The Chiefs and St. Louis Rams, who used to play one another annually in the preseason, will not get together for the second straight season. But the teams will meet in Kansas City in the regular season.
With the announcement of the preseason opponents, the Chiefs can take another step in preparing for the 2014 season. Their offseason conditioning program begins April 21. A three-day rookie minicamp begins May 24. The first full-squad practice is May 27.
Training camp will begin in late July at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.
