Young player to watch: SS Daniel Sorensen

By Adam Teicher

Here we'll continue a series looking at four unheralded players who have a reasonable shot to make the Kansas City Chiefs' regular-season roster with a strong showing at training camp.

SS Daniel Sorensen

How acquired: Undrafted free agent, 2014.

Looking ahead: At 6-2 and 208 pounds, Sorensen at the very least looks the part. The Chiefs will learn at training camp whether he can handle the physical part of the game. If he can, Sorensen will earn a roster spot. During offseason practice he showed nice instincts and a habit of usually being around the ball in the passing game. Other than Sanders Commings, the Chiefs have no other obvious candidate to win a spot as a backup safety.

Possible role: Playing time on defense will be minimal at best as long as the Chiefs have Eric Berry as their strong safety. But if he earns a roster spot Sorensen could be a regular on special teams.
