A few links and notes from recent days:

-- Want to see how the UCLA gymnastics team won the school's 105th national championship? You'll have a chance Saturday, as CBS will air the NCAA championships at noon (PT).

-- ESPN's Diamond Leung wrote a great piece on Malcolm Lee and Jerime Anderson, the only players left from coach Ben Howland's top-rated 2008 recruiting class. Among the things Lee said: "I definitely wasn't leaving on this note. You can't leave UCLA like that. That's crazy." Click here for the article.

-- The UCLA Athletics department released a Q & A session in which athletic director Dan Guerrero responds to a number of questions surrounding the Pauley Pavilion renovation project. Click here for the read. The groundbreaking celebration will be held on the east exterior concourse on May 11 at 12:30 p.m.

-- Starting second baseman Tyler Rahmatulla has been nursing a hip flexor, head coach John Savage said following the Bruins' 5-1 win Tuesday afternoon. Rahmatulla currently leads UCLA in hits (52), runs scored (34) and on-base percentage (.463). The sophomore had started in each of UCLA's 40 games prior to sitting out Tuesday. "He really wasn’t 100 percent this past weekend [against Arizona State], but obviously he wanted to play," Savage said. "We need him on the weekends, so we gave him Monday and Tuesday off."

-- In case you missed it, former UCLA outfielder Eric Byrnes was released by the Seattle Mariners last weekend. That doesn't necessarily mean he's ready to put away his bat. The 11-year veteran has joined an adult softball league with some friends. "This is going to be a blast," he told MLB.com. "Playing with my buddies. I can't wait for my first hit. I'm going to ask for the ball." Byrnes starred at UCLA from 1995-1998, hitting a combined .331 and finishing his four-year collegiate career with a program-record 242 games played.
