Freshman quarterback Jesse Scroggins and safety Demetrius Wright did not practice Friday morning and were sent home until they are ruled eligible by the NCAA Eligibility Center. Both players were allowed to practice with the team for 14 days while their paperwork was under review but will not be allowed back until they are cleared, which could be anytime according to USC coach Lane Kiffin.

“The assumption is when you sign a player and they graduate high school, they’re either cleared or not, but they go through a process of all their stuff being in and then they go through a review,” Kiffin said. “Sometimes things are red flagged so sometimes the process is quick and sometimes it takes a while. These guys weren’t done in time but they could be cleared at any moment. They could be out here by this afternoon.”
