USC will take part in the first night game at Notre Dame Stadium in 21 years when the Trojans face the Irish at 7:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 22, Notre Dame announced Wednesday.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to play host to a home night game," Notre Dame athletics director Jack Swarbrick said in a statement. "While we will do this only on a selective basis, we think it is important to occasionally use the platform of a prime-time game to promote the University and our football program."
It marks the first night game at Notre Dame Stadium since No. 4 Michigan came to face No. 1 Notre Dame under the lights in 1990. That game was won, 28-24, by the Irish. There have been only six home night games in Notre Dame history.
USC's 2010 matchup with Notre Dame at the Coliseum was a 5 p.m. PT start on Nov. 27.
