Two Trojans were honored Thursday with Phil Steele Preseason All-American selections: junior safety T.J. McDonald and sophomore receiver Robert Woods, who both earned spots on Steele's national third team.

McDonald, a possible first-round talent for next April's NFL draft, is USC's defensive leader. He led the Trojans in tackles last season with 89 and added three interceptions. He was named a Steele All-Pac-10 first teamer for his efforts. Woods, a surprise starter last season for USC as a true freshman, led the team in receiving with 65 catches for 792 yards and six touchdowns.

Eight other Trojans also earned conference honors per Steele: cornerback Nickell Robey (First Team All-Pac-12), quarterback Matt Barkley, left tackle Matt Kalil and linebacker Chris Galippo (Second Team), running back Marc Tyler, center Khaled Holmes and defensive tackle DaJohn Harris (Third Team) and linebacker Devon Kennard (Fourth Team).

Woods and McDonald were also both named to the Pac-12 First Team, Woods as both a receiver and returner. He had a 25.6 yards-per-return average in 2010 on kickoffs, including one touchdown runback.
