Baseball: Wood, Odom taken by Angels

The Trojans are starting to add up, as USC right-handers Austin Wood and Logan Odom were taken within 60 picks of each other in the sixth and eighth rounds of the 2011 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday.

Wood, USC's Saturday starter this season as a junior, went 195th overall. Odom, the Trojans' Sunday guy as a senior, went 255th. They were the second and third USC products to be selected in the draft after first baseman Ricky Oropesa was selected in the third round by the San Francisco Giants earlier Tuesday.

Two Trojan signees, Tustin (Calif.) third baseman Travis Harrison and Huntington Beach Edison shortstop Christian Lopes, have also been taken -- Harrison in the supplemental first round by the Minnesota Twins and Lopes in the seventh round by the Toronto Blue Jays.
