Position players had their first workout Saturday, getting it in just before the heavy rain started. The storm that passed through Southern California Friday made it here by midday Saturday. Some developments:

" Kendry Morales has begun running on a treadmill while being "deweighted." In other words, he's wearing a harness that keeps much of his body weight off his healing left ankle.

" Morales also began taking ground balls at first base, though not as many as the other infielders.

" Pitching coach Mike Butcher has resumed the majority of his duties less than a week after having a thyroid gland removed after doctors found a cancerous growth. Butcher isn't throwing batting practice and occasionally loses his voice.
