The Angels continued to poach talent from the front office of their division rival, hiring Mike LaCassa on Thursday from the Texas Rangers to be their manager of minor league operations.

LaCassa, like new assistant general manager Scott Servais, worked for the American League-champion Rangers last season.

Since the dismissal of GM Tony Reagins sparked a slew of firings last November, the Angels have rebuilt their front office, hiring eight people from outside the organization, including general manager Jerry Dipoto.

The Angels, who failed to reach the playoffs each of the past two seasons, are intent on improving their scouting and minor-league departments. They have one of the best prospects in baseball, outfielder Mike Trout, but are otherwise thin in the upper levels of the organization.
