One of Albert Pujols' greatest strength as a hitter is the ability to hit balls hard from line to line, but this season the Angels haven't seen that.
As you can see in the chart below sent over from Mark Simon of ESPN's Stats and Info, of Pujols' 20 ground balls, 19 have gone to the left of the second baseman and one went up the middle. In his final at-bat Sunday, the Baltimore Orioles shifted their second baseman to the left of the bag, putting three infielders on the left side.
He has hit a total of one line drive to right field.
As the Angels try to figure out why he has gone 65 at-bats without a home run, they might want to address his approach.
